David Silverberg believes in the
power of spoken word, and wants to spread
its goodness to all corners of the world. David is a performance poet who is very active on the Toronto Poets scene.
He has read at the Art Bar Reading Series (twice), Cryptic
Chatter, I.V. Lounge
Reading Series, Nik Beat's Words and Music, and the
Toronto Centre for the
Performing Arts. He led a Toronto slam team to the
first annual Canadian
Spoken Wordlympics in Ottawa, in 2004 and has been a big contributor to the poetry slam movement in Toronto ever since.
By day, David is a journalist who has written for
publications such as eye
Weekly, High Times, Digital Journal, Pound Magazine,
Toronto Star, Broken
Pencil and New Canadian. He is enthusiastic about
writing articles about the
spoken word movement, which he has done several times
in his career. His
recreational passions include basketball, playing
guitar, attending theatre,
reading fiction and non-fiction and becoming a better
person than he was a
day ago.
